AVENUE

  STAGE

AVENUE STAGE began by producing short plays in a dinner theater format for the Dorchester audience.  Our premiere production was Lanford Wilson's A Betrothal in 2013, followed by David Storey's Home, the original comedy Shared Bath, Full English, Arthur Miller's I Can't Remember Anything, and Christopher Durang's The Actor's Nightmare.  In 2017, our original comedy Fish Food successfully transferred to Boston Playwrights' Theatre, and subsequently enjoyed a 14-show run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This was followed in 2018 by AddictShunned, an original piece by Judith Austin. After a long break brought about by the Covid Pandemic and the departure to Australia of co-founder Jennifer Jones, we reemerged in 2024 with Miss Mary Mac's cabaret show The Last Time I saw You, followed by the 2026 double-bill The Other Woman and Grave Matters. Avenue Stage continues to seek nontraditional venues in Dorchester and beyond to stage both original work and revivals of forgotten shorter works by great writers.
